Joint Leaders’ Statement on elevating Viet Nam-U.S. ties to comprehensive strategic partnership

At the invitation of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, President of the United States Joe Biden made a State visit to Vietnam from September 10-11, 2023. On this occasion, the leaders of the two countries issued a Joint Statement on upgrading the Vietnam-U.S. relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. In the area of Education and Training Cooperation, the two leaders celebrated the launch of the Peace Corps Program in Vietnam and the 31st anniversary of the Fulbright Program in Vietnam. Both sides welcomed the activities of Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) and recognized FUV’s growing role as a regional center for public policy education. The two leaders also underscored the urgent importance of investing in human resources, acknowledging it as a vital asset for future prosperity, security, stability, and development.
