At the meeting, President Scott Andrew Fritzen shared that Fulbright University Vietnam is a part of the Vietnamese higher education system and operates under the management of the Ministry of Education and Training. The university was established by Decision No. 819/QĐ-TTg on May 16, 2016, issued by the Prime Minister.

In 2018, the university began its admissions process and welcomed its first undergraduate cohort. As of today, Fulbright University Vietnam has been officially operating for over six years.

With a desire to engage more deeply and actively in Vietnam’s education and training activities, the leadership of Fulbright University Vietnam expressed their intention to become an official member of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges. This membership would provide an opportunity for Fulbright to contribute more positively to the Association’s activities and foster connections, exchanges, and collaborations with domestic higher education institutions.

In response to President Scott Andrew Fritzen, Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges, Dr. Lê Viết Khuyến, warmly welcomed Fulbright University’s participation.

Dr. Lê Viết Khuyến explained that the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges is a socio-professional organization representing universities and colleges across Vietnam, regardless of their type or level of education. Currently, the Association has approximately 340 members, including institutes, academies, universities, and colleges nationwide.

The Association’s mission is to unite its members, protect their legitimate rights and interests, support each other in operating effectively, and contribute to the development of the country’s education and training sector. This, in turn, helps meet the nation’s socio-economic development needs, supports international integration, and advances the goals of prosperity, strength, equity, democracy, and civilization.

“The Association serves as an extended arm between the government’s higher education management and higher education institutions, while also advising Party and State leaders on educational policies to contribute positively to the advancement of higher education and the strengthening of the nation’s intellectual capacity,” Dr. Lê Viết Khuyến emphasized.

“When Fulbright University Vietnam becomes a member of the Association, it will be required to fully comply with the Association’s regulations and the laws of Vietnam,” Vo Thanh Binh stressed.

Dr. Vo Thanh Binh also confirmed that Fulbright University Vietnam meets all the criteria to become a member of the Association. He expressed hope that Fulbright would make many positive contributions to the overall development of Vietnam’s education system in the near future.
