Potential capstone project
Nguyen Ha Linh Tu is a talented girl from the Class of 2024. Tu graduated with Honors, was the Former President of the Fulbright’s STEM Club, and successfully conquered the position of Young Science Ambassador at OUCRU (Oxford University Clinical Research Unit).
Tu’s capstone project focuses on researching colistin-resistant Salmonella bacteria that do not cause food poisoning in retail chicken. This is an efficient and valuable topic that contributes to the effective improvement of food safety. But initially, Tu can not stop worrying: “If my project does not achieve the expected results, it would be a waste of time, effort, and money,” Tu shared.
Support from predecessors
Instead of faltering in fear, Tu decided to confront and seek solutions. She spent a lot of time thoroughly researching scientific papers, consulting experts in the field, and actively engaging with teachers, professors, and predecessors. Thanks to her unwavering spirit of continuous learning and courage to ask questions, Tu received valuable advice that helped guide and refine her project.
Tu’s research journey conveyed a meaningful message: “Do not feel inferior when you do not know something because you can always learn and seek help from those who came before.” With sincerity and a proactive attitude, she not only gained valuable experiences for herself but also built quality social relationships. “In a project, do not be afraid that your contribution is small. Every idea is an important brick that contributes to the overall success,” Tu shared.
