The comprehensive knowledge and skills that Tran Viet Hoang has acquired at Fulbright have been fully utilized in the HNVision project, which supports the visually impaired in using household appliances through software. The idea originated from an instance when Viet Hoang asked a friend for guidance on using a microwave and a washing machine. Driven by his own needs, Viet Hoang, along with Tran Nguyen Hoan Nhi, embarked on developing HNVision. This application uses camera scanning to provide direct instructions by reading aloud the contents of the control panel and guiding users step-by-step, enabling the visually impaired to easily operate the devices.
The ideal learning environment helped Hoang and Hoan Nhi’s project receive a scholarship from the Community Change Maker’s Scholarship by Temasek Holdings. Currently, the HNVision project has completed server setup and is ready to start training AI models. The duo is in the process of writing the application software and training the models.
