There are two Admissions Cycles, including Fall Cycle and Spring Cycle. If not accepted in the Fall Cycle, applicants can reapply in the Spring Cycle. These students can update and strengthen their admissions applications for us to understand them more.

Each admissions cycle consists of an application round and an interview round. The interview round occurs after the admissions application deadline and is conducted online only. Applicants shortlisted after the admissions application round will be invited to the interview round.

The number of students we intend to accept from the Fall Cycle will be much higher than that from the Spring Cycle. Furthermore, applicants can have a second chance to reapply in the Spring Cycle if they are unsuccessful in the Fall Cycle.

Admitted students who obtain an IELTS score of 6.0 and some students who obtain an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent will be required to participate in a bridging program. The program is designed to help students improve their English proficiency and introduce them to the academical environment before officially enrolling at Fulbright.

If you are in 12th grade, even though you have not completed your high school program and taken the high school graduation exam, you are still eligible to apply. In accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, if admitted to Fulbright, you still need to turn in your high school transcripts and certificate of graduation to officially enroll.

In addition, Fulbright also requires candidates to meet the English requirement before their matriculation at Fulbright. You can read more about the English requirement here.

All successful applicants are required to submit an English test score of a minimum 6.0 for IELTS (or 70 for TOEFL iBT or 95 for Duolingo English Test, or equivalent) prior to their matriculation at Fulbright. Some exceptions are considered for exemption from these English requirements, please find details here. Please note that, besides the minimum English proficiency requirement, Fulbright does not require you to submit any other standardized test scores e.g., SAT, IGCSE, or IB. However, you can list those test scores in your application if you would like them to be considered.

In terms of Provincial Academic Excellence Competition, Fulbright only accepts certificates issued by the Department of Education (DOE) in different provinces/major cities or the Ministry of Education. The certificates must include the applicant’s full name, prize and the subject taken. They can be replaced by a list of prize winners or a decision letter posted on the DOE’s official website, which must indicate clearly the applicant’s full name, prize, and the subject taken.
Applicants who have not received official certificates must submit a letter written by their teachers or schools’ administrators to certify their candidacy.

For those participating in the National Academic Excellence Competition in English, you can submit a photo/scanned copy of your Attendance Slip or the Decision of Establishing Representative Team in National Academic Excellence Competition issued by the Provincial Department of Education. The documents must indicate clearly your full name and the subject taken. You can see the Decision issued by Vinh Long Province’s Department of Education for reference here.

If you have been selected for the team but have not taken the Competition yet, you can submit the Decision of Establishing Representative Team issued by the Provincial Department of Education OR the confirmation letter from your teachers or school’s administrators to certify your being selected into the Representative Team in the National Academic Excellence Competition. The documents must indicate clearly your full name and the subject taken.

Fulbright implements holistic admissions. While academic awards can show an applicant’s intellectual curiosity, having them is not the only way to prove that you possess this quality. You can submit your research studies or your reflection on academic topics or highlight other strengths of yours in the application.

Having no community service activities is not a disadvantage to an applicant. You can highlight other strengths of yours to show that you possess the qualities that Fulbright is looking for from potential students. For example, you can prove to be responsible and caring for others not only through community service activities but also through your family responsibilities. Fulbright does not require you to submit certificates for your activities.
