
On the afternoon of March 18, 2022, at the Government Office, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met with Mr. Thomas Vallely, Director of the Vietnam Program at Harvard University, along with experts from Fulbright University Vietnam.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính praised Mr. Thomas Vallely’s contributions to the establishment of Fulbright University Vietnam and congratulated the university on its positive achievements in education and research. The Vietnamese government will continue to support and create favorable conditions for Fulbright University to rise and become one of the leading centers for high-quality human resource development in Vietnam.
To realize development goals and perspectives, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính reaffirmed that the Vietnamese government places great importance on strengthening dialogue, exchange, and policy consultation on economic development with the world’s leading research centers. The Prime Minister also appreciated Mr. Vallely’s proposal for Harvard University and Fulbright University to collaborate with Vietnamese government agencies in organizing the Vietnam Executive Leadership Program (VELP), to facilitate discussions on Vietnam’s socio-economic development issues.
Mr. Thomas Vallely expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, government agencies, and local authorities for their continued support of Fulbright University Vietnam’s activities. Harvard University and Fulbright University are eager to continue contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for Vietnam. In the coming time, Fulbright University will strive to further enhance the quality and effectiveness of its training programs, aiming to become a premier training center in Vietnam and the region.
Mr. Vallely shared that, over the years, Harvard University and Fulbright University have successfully collaborated with Vietnamese agencies to organize seven Vietnam Executive Leadership Programs (VELP), facilitating discussions on global economic and development issues, as well as Vietnam’s socio-economic development, including economic restructuring, industrial development policy, education, rural development, and improvements in economic institutions, law, and justice.
Mr. Vallely also commended Vietnam’s strong and determined commitments at COP26, affirming that Harvard University and Fulbright University will actively support Vietnam in implementing climate change response solutions and promoting green growth. He expressed hope that Vietnam will become a global model and inspire other developing nations in this area.
